I was asked to write a sound piece to accompany an inflatable sculptural work by Michael Shaw to be shown over a month at Left Bank Leeds. I wrote a series of eight short works tht each lasted 90 seconds to conincide with the sculpture inflating - the artist was very specific about the sound of the electric fan being audible and part of the work so I had to work my pieces around that.
For the final night I wanted to augment the short pieces I has written and make a single larger work for sixteen channels of audio.
The joystick hardware was developed along with the audio software plugin to allow sounds to be moved between sixteen loudspeakers I placed around the building. On the closing night of the exhibition a live mix was performed with eight people following a graphic score of the piece.
